It's a cliché as old as the first tech support call - IT professionals tend to lack the 'soft skills' that other occupations possess. But more recently, recruiters are seeking soft skills - and even calling them 'core skills' - as valuable attributes for tech professionals.
Characteristics that lend themselves to providing and accepting feedback, interpersonal skills like empathy, critical thinking and communication - the ability to go off-script and talk to a customer is getting more attention.
